Social media as an ally to youth workers’ capacity enhancement

The training “Social media as an ally to youth workers’ capacity enhancement” was held in the idyllic island of Zakynthos, Greece, from the 26th of August until the 1st of September 2021. This international initiative gathered 29 young participants from Greece as a host country, Cyprus, Italy, Romania, Serbia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Poland and one participant sent by Backslash from Spain.

This training consisted of workshops and activities based on non-formal education related to the impact of the internet and advertisements in the youth, media biases, cybercrime, creation of online professional profiles and websites as well as preparation, creation and editing of videos.

Participants widened their network of contacts in Europe, improved their social and linguistic skills, as well as their technological literacy and awareness, which will be of help in developing key life and employability skills. Moreover, this training pursued the empowerment of participants to act as relevant stakeholders in the European civil society in the future and increased their awareness of European citizenship.
