During 23 and 27 of November, Valencia hosted the European project Be visible! Develop your media skills!
During 5 sunny days that passed faster than ever, participants grew as much as in 5 years (well, professionally, because nobody wants to grow older).
The project reunited 24 youth workers from seven countries: Cyprus, Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, Romania, Turkey and Spain.
Maybe you still wonder what a youth worker is. Well, one of the definitions says: “The youth worker encourages youngsters in order to develop their life abilities skills and proactive behaviours, increasing their appetite for cooperation with other youngster and facilitating their participation in the community life.”
Basically, a youth worker works with young people and helps them during the process of development from Youth work seems something amazing, right? Unfortunately, not many people heard of the great job youth workers do. This is why we have created a project to help the ones involved in youth work show the world the wonderful things they do.
During the five days of training, the 24 youth workers present in Valencia discovered how they can promote better their organisations and the work they do for/with young people.
The youth workers explored the branding concept and how a brand strategy is built. The training revealed tactics of Public Relations and Journalism also. They also acquired precious social media techniques. Social media is a field precious for the NGOs as they have reduced financial resources.
And no matter how the society evolves (one day Facebook will die) one thing is sure: we need to be creative. As youth workers, as communicators and as persons we need creativity to make our lives more interesting and richer. This is why the training included workshops related to the creative skills development.
All the activities were seasoned with interesting discussions and concrete examples for the youth workers lives.
The participants created professional and personal connections and are now preparing new youth work activities at European Level.
